Delusion, or just plain stupidity?

My guess would be the latter…

Marysville California… a small, yet diverse city with a rich, meandering history. Colored by tales of gold prospectors, the rail road and Asian settlers, old people are on almost every street corner just dying to tell you a historical nugget of the town’s wild past. As interesting as the town may be, there is one thing that Marysville is not known for… METAL!!1! Albeit, this fact falls upon deaf ears to the 15 and under demographic…

Any local fan of metal is likely to run into one of the scores of girl-pant-clad hooligans that frequent Carl’s Jr. Upon meeting one, youĂre likely to get an earful about some shitty scenester band or another. However, a majority of the local chapter of emo kids are quite taken by a local thrash/metal/post-hardcore/cookie-monster band AtDawn.

A reasonable man would immediately write this band off as a bunch of local idiots playing laughable noise to a gaggle of teenagers that share a common taste in bad music. I do fancy myself as reasonable, but when I’m reminded that these guys exist I can literally feel them insulting what’s left of my intelligence. I guess my not really being a fan of metal to begin with would have a lot to do with that…

Anyway, 99.999% of my time is spent actively putting bands like this out of my mind. However, that’s easier said than done when the particular band in scrutiny decides to use vandalism as a promotional tool.

One thing I can deduce, is that none of these cobs have a future in business, or advertising. That vandalized sign is on an abandoned theatre marquee in Marysville. A town that, according to the 2006 census bureau, has less than 15k citizens… over %50 of which are over the age of 40. As in any town, there are only going to be so many people to take what someone writes on the door of a public toilet seriously.

You are free to replace what you remember. The old php software I used didn’t use a database, it just saved comments and posts into ASCII files. I had the posts themselves saved in word, but the comments?… no dice.
